Right Across the Intersection
If you are staying at MGM Grand and looking for food near the hotel, the shortest answer in this entire hotel guide series is: look north. Showcase Mall sits at 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, and MGM Grand is at 3799 S Las Vegas Blvd. Those address numbers put them at essentially the same block on Las Vegas Blvd, on opposite sides of the Tropicana Avenue intersection. Standing at MGM Grand's main entrance facing the Boulevard, you can see M&M World and the Giant Coca-Cola bottle on Showcase Mall's facade. The walk across is one to two minutes. Rock N' Potato occupies Suite 207 on the second floor: a loaded-potato and burger counter with a 4.8 Google rating, 4.9 TripAdvisor, 503 reviews, Yelp Top 100 number 23 for 2026, and counter service with no reservation. MGM Grand has one of the most impressive dining lineups on the entire Strip, and this guide covers both. But if you want an affordable, fast, no-wait meal without stepping into a casino restaurant, the answer is practically at your front door.
Dining Inside MGM Grand
MGM Grand has a dining program that ranges from one of the most acclaimed fine-dining rooms in Las Vegas all the way down to a quick sports bar plate. Here is an honest read of the major options.
- Joel Robuchon: A landmark restaurant and historically one of the most Michelin-decorated dining rooms in the United States. The prix fixe experience runs several hundred dollars per person. If a serious, world-class tasting menu is on your itinerary, this is a genuine contender. It is not a casual dinner option.
- Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak: Celebrity-chef steakhouse with high-quality cuts and a well-regarded wine program. Expect $60 to $100-plus per person for a full steak dinner. Worth it for a special occasion meal.
- Emeril's New Orleans Fish House: Emeril Lagasse's seafood and Creole concept. Mid-to-upper price range, solid for Gulf-inspired flavors without the prix fixe commitment of Joel Robuchon.
- Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill: The mid-range option in the MGM Grand dining mix. Familiar Wolfgang Puck quality at a more accessible price point, typically $20 to $40 per person.
- Tap Sports Bar: The casual anchor. Wings, burgers, flatbreads, and wall-to-wall screens. A practical choice for sports fans or anyone who wants a low-key sit-down meal without a dress code or a prix fixe price tag.
The MGM Grand dining range is exceptional at the top end, and genuinely functional at the casual end. For budget-conscious guests, however, even Tap Sports Bar prices add up quickly when you factor in drinks, tax, and gratuity. That is where the walk north becomes worth knowing.
How Far Is Rock N' Potato from MGM Grand?
Closer than anywhere else in the hotel guide series. Rock N' Potato is about 0.1 miles from MGM Grand, a one to two minute walk north on Las Vegas Blvd. The two properties share the Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Blvd intersection: MGM Grand anchors the southwest corner and Showcase Mall anchors the northwest side. To get there, exit MGM Grand toward Las Vegas Blvd and turn right (north). Walk to the intersection or follow the pedestrian path along the Boulevard, and Showcase Mall is immediately on your right. Look for M&M World at street level and the Giant Coca-Cola bottle overhead. Once inside Showcase Mall, take the escalator up from Las Vegas Blvd to the second floor. Suite 207 is straight ahead. No rideshare needed, no map required. This is a genuine across-the-street walk.
Rock N' Potato: What to Order
Rock N' Potato is built around loaded potatoes and burgers, priced for guests who do not want to spend $25 on a casino appetizer. Counter service means you order, find a seat, and eat. No reservation, no wait for a table, no service charge.
For value, the Original Groupie ($10.95) is the best entry point: a loaded potato that covers a meal for under $10, which is nearly impossible anywhere else within walking distance of MGM Grand. The Birria King ($16.95) steps it up with braised birria beef, consomme, and full toppings on a baked potato. The Fleetwood MacDaddy ($35.95) is the large-format sharing plate, better priced than two separate entrees at Tap Sports Bar and significantly more filling. Wings run $10.95. Cheese Fries are $8.95.
Rock N' Potato is open from 8:00am daily, so it works for hotel guests who want a proper breakfast before a morning at the pool, a quick lunch between sessions, or a post-show meal after an MGM Grand Garden Arena event.
Getting Back to MGM Grand
The return walk south takes the same one to two minutes. If you are attending a concert or boxing match at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Rock N' Potato is ideally positioned as a pre-show dinner: no reservation to secure, no kitchen that closes at showtime, and a two-minute walk back to the arena entrance when you are done. On weeknights the kitchen runs until 11:30pm. Friday through Sunday it stays open until 1:00am, covering late finishes after the event.
Planning to attend a show at MGM Grand Garden Arena? See our MGM Grand concert food guides for event night dining options.
MGM Grand is directly across Las Vegas Blvd from Showcase Mall and one block south of T-Mobile Arena via The Park entertainment district. If your visit includes a Golden Knights game, UFC fight, or arena concert, see our T-Mobile Arena dining guide for walk times and directions.
