Luxor Las Vegas sits at 3900 S Las Vegas Blvd, anchoring the south end of the Strip alongside Mandalay Bay. Guests at the pyramid often assume that being toward the bottom of the Strip means they are far from everything, but the geography works in their favor for one particular stop. Showcase Mall is at 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, which places it north of Luxor: the lower address number means the mall is closer to the center of the Strip, not further away. Rock N' Potato, inside Showcase Mall on the second floor at Suite 207, is one of the closest restaurants on Las Vegas Boulevard to Luxor. The walk north from the Luxor main entrance to Showcase Mall takes 3 to 5 minutes on foot. That makes Luxor one of the easiest hotels in the series to get to Rock N' Potato from. Counter service, no reservation, open from 8am every day.
Dining inside Luxor Las Vegas
Luxor's dining lineup covers the basics without making a strong culinary statement. Tender Steakhouse is the upscale anchor on the property, a traditional steakhouse with the pricing and reservation expectations that come with that format. Rice and Company is the Asian cuisine option, a more casual choice than Tender but still a sit-down experience. Johnny Rockets brings the American diner format to the casino floor, familiar and approachable. The buffet options on property round out the picture for guests who want variety under one roof.
Luxor is known more as an entertainment destination than a dining one. Blue Man Group and Cirque productions have been long-running draws at the property, and many guests are there for the show first, with dining as a secondary consideration. The on-property options are functional, but guests looking for a fast, affordable, no-frills meal that does not require a reservation or a table minimum will find the short walk north to Showcase Mall worth making.
How far is Rock N' Potato from Luxor?
This is the detail most Luxor guests do not expect: Showcase Mall is north of Luxor, not south. Luxor is at 3900 S Las Vegas Blvd and Showcase Mall is at 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, meaning the mall sits between Luxor and the center of the Strip. The distance is approximately 0.2 to 0.3 miles, which works out to a 3 to 5 minute walk on flat sidewalk.
The route is direct. Exit Luxor toward Las Vegas Boulevard and turn left, which is north. Excalibur will be on your left as you walk. Showcase Mall is the next property you reach on the right side of the boulevard, identifiable by the M&M World signage and the oversized Coca-Cola bottle at street level. Take the escalator up from Las Vegas Blvd and Rock N' Potato is at Suite 207 on the second floor. This is one of the shortest walks in the hotel-to-Rock-N-Potato series. A rideshare is also an option and typically takes 2 to 3 minutes from the Luxor rideshare area.
Rock N' Potato: what to order
Rock N' Potato is a counter-service loaded baked potato and birria spot. Walk up, order at the counter, no reservation needed. The menu covers a range of price points, which makes it a good fit for Luxor guests who want something filling without committing to a full sit-down dining budget.
The Original Groupie ($10.95) is the entry point: a loaded baked potato with butter, sour cream, cheddar, and chives. Simple, filling, and the most budget-friendly full plate on the menu. The Birria King ($16.95) is the braised birria beef build, a loaded potato with deep, slow-cooked flavor that is a complete meal on its own. The Fleetwood Mac ($20.95) steps up further, and the Chuck Berry Fried Chicken ($15.95) brings a fried chicken build to the potato lineup. Wings ($10.95) are a good shared option. Birria Tacos ($10.95) and Cheese Fries ($8.95) work well as add-ons or lighter orders. The Fruity Pebbles Cheesecake ($8.95) is the dessert close. Rock N' Potato opens at 8am daily, which covers breakfast and brunch as well as lunch and dinner.
Getting back to Luxor
The return trip is 3 to 5 minutes south on Las Vegas Boulevard. Turn right out of Showcase Mall and walk south; Excalibur is the landmark before Luxor on the left, and the pyramid is visible well before you reach it. Even after a late Cirque or Blue Man Group show, Rock N' Potato's Friday and Saturday hours run to 1:00am, which fits a post-show dinner or late-night snack without a rushed trip. The walk back is short enough to do comfortably at any hour.
